WCS Grad Awarded ‘Miss Congeniality’ At Miss Indiana USA Competition
Shelby Anderson of Warsaw was named Miss Congeniality at the 2015 Miss Indiana USA Competition, held Wednesday, Nov. 1 and Thursday, Nov. 2.
She is the daughter of Stacey and Michael Anderson of Warsaw. A senior at Purdue University, Shelby will graduate in December with a degree in corporate communications. She has been very active during her college career helping at Almost Home Humane Society of Lafayette, swimming with the Purdue Swim Club, and is a member of Lambda Pi Eta, an honors group at the College of Liberal Arts.
Her next step in life is to delve into the corporate world, where she hopes to one day lead a marketing department. She enjoys swimming, running, reading and writing. In her free time, she tries to be very involved in the lives of her friends, and embraces the Boilermaker culture by going to sporting events and career fairs.
The Miss Congeniality award is voted on by the women in the competition. This word reflects the respect and admiration that the competitors have for the winner, and represents the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational participant. Shelby was able to connect with most of the contestants and get to know them on a personal level. She competed in the interview, swimsuit and evening gown competition, but the competitors got to know her during the down time.
Given to her by Mekayla Diehl, MISS INDIANA USA® 2014, Shelby is the only competitor in the “Miss Division” to receive this award.
