Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum Hosts New Exhibit
By KAREN KELSHEIMER
Director, Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum
The Syracuse-Wawsee Historical Museum has a new visiting exhibit for the month of November; hand-crafted goblets that show off 76 species of wood.
When Bob Ibach of Winona Lake began turning wood on his lathe, he practiced by making small goblets. To learn the characteristics of various woods, he turned a goblet of each species he could obtain.
Thus his unintentional collection grew to 76 species of wood. Most are samples of domestic woods, but a few are exotic. Ibach began his collection when he lived in Texas, and some samples are typical of the Texas landscape.
Stop in a see this unique collection during regular Museum hours in November: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Museum is located at 1013 N. Long Dr., Syracuse.
