Volleyball Tigers, Coach Honored By NLC
GOSHEN – The Northern Lakes Conference champion Warsaw volleyball program is well represented on the All-NLC team announced today.
The Warsaw trio of senior Katie Voelz, junior Jordyn Lindeman and sophomore Cassie Hoag all earned All-NLC honors for the 2014 season. The threesome led the Tigers to the NLC championship with a perfect 7-0 mark in league play.
The All-NLC team also includes four players from runner-up Elkhart Memorial in seniors Tori Mills and Tailor Schultheis and juniors Darrian Mowery and Kaylin Szucs.
Coach Jacquie Rost’s Crimson Chargers went 6-1 in NLC action this fall and have won Class 4-A sectional and regional championships in the IHSAA tournament. Memorial will play Carroll (Allen) in a semifinal match Saturday at the Huntington North Semistate.
Concord seniors Ciana Bonfiglio, Holyn Eldridge and Gabby Staggs all earned all-league honors.
Also named All-NLC were Goshen senior Brooke Miller, Northridge junior Kelly Miller, NorthWood junior Sydney Wysong and Plymouth senior Haley Harrell.
The Warsaw duo of Caroline Mayer and Peyton Adamiec were honorable mention selections to the All-NLC squad.
Alli Ousley of Wawasee was also an honorable mention choice.
Other honorable mention picks were Nickey Chupp of Concord, Claire Welter of Memorial, Carly Gingerich of Goshen and McKenzie Scheetz of Plymouth.
Warsaw coach Mike Howard was honored as the NLC Coach of the Year.
Warsaw won the league title at 7-0, followed by Memorial (6-1), Concord (5-2), Plymouth (4-3), Goshen (3-4), NorthWood (2-5), Northridge (1-6) and Wawasee (0-7).
