Kolbe: Fringe Nominee Supporter Claims Flimsy, Unsupported
Dear Editor,
One of the fringe nominee’s supporters has written a letter in some publications imploring mainstream Republicans to reconsider their support of me in this election. Her rationale is flimsy and unsupported. “Words are to confuse…” is a well stated proposition she cites and then draws some reference to vague and unnamed candidate grading sources.
I have a B rating with the National Rifle Association and I am a member and former national board member of the pre-eminently pro-life organization, Democrats for Life of America. My NRA “B” rating means that I am “generally pro-gun but may support some restrictive legislation.” As to my stand on sanctity of life, I have spent my whole career, including serving on the local Right to Life Board, championing the sanctity of life from the womb to the end of life.
Any implications otherwise are “words” designed to dissuade intelligent Republicans who rightly see that extremism is an alarming danger to democracy and their own party. That is why they support my moderate and balanced approach to serving as a legislator for our fine District. We all agree that our District faces many challenging issues beyond the relevant gun rights and sanctity of life issues. Schools, jobs, business growth, infrastructure issues, to name a few, come to mind.
My fellow citizens, the silent majority, and all reasonable Republicans, every District gets the legislator it deserves. I believe we deserve the highest in competence and reasonableness to solve our challenging problems and I am the best choice.
David C. Kolbe
