IBA Announces Local Pride Of Leadership Winners
By JONI TRUEX
Executive Officer, Builders Association Kosciusko Fulton Counties
The Indiana Builders Association created the Pride of Leadership contest in order to recognize Local Association Board Presidents and Local Association Executive Officers for their determination and hard work in specific local association areas.
Points were awarded for membership retention; new members recruited; attendance at IBA meetings and conferences; communication method provided to IBA for local members; and local Associations meeting their contribution goal to the IBA political action committee.
Having met or exceeded the goals set by IBA, Brett Harter and Joni Truex have been awarded the first place level in the Pride of Leadership contest.
Both Harter and Truex will receive reimbursed expenses to attend the International Builders Show held in January 2015 in Las Vegas; partial reimbursement to attend the National Association of Home Builders Legislative Conference in Washington D.C. in 2015; and a foursome entry to golf in the Indiana Builders Association annual golf outing in 2015.
Rick Wajda, IBA CEO shared the good news with the membership at the General Membership Meeting.
Wajda spoke on probable legislation being introduced this year affecting builders and associates in Indiana. Several legislative proposals with building impact were introduced last legislative session and these were also reviewed.
IBA has one of the strongest legislative contingency in the Indiana statehouse.
Each year, IBA invites all Association members to the statehouse to interact with their representatives and senators. This meeting is well attended by both members and legislatures.
Each week, during session, a weekly legislative newsletter is sent to all members in order to keep everyone current on legislative issues affecting those members involved in the industry.
