Saying Goodbye To Little Bighorn
“Little Bighorn is not the Custer family’s last stand,” wrote Dale and Peg Custer. They addressed the fact they will be closing the business in November in a letter.
The Custers wrote, “… the golf industry continues to decline and it is just not economically feasible to continue operating. It is with very sad and heavy hearts that we make the gut-wrenching decision to close Little Bighorn. Twenty-three years after Stanley (Custer) built the course, we must say goodbye to our loyal members. We thank you for all the years you have supported the course and the friendships we have built.”
The announcement comes after Little Bighorn held an unprecedented free week of “Millennium Golf,” an updated version to the typical golf play, with new rules designed to make play faster. The letter addresses the decreased membership, and mentions how this event “did not generate the interest in memberships for 2015 (Little Bighorn) needed.”
The course will be open for both disc golf and regular play through Nov. 2, with the exception of Halloween evening. Little Bighorn will be liquidating many items, including golf carts, equipment, merchandise and other inventory.
