Checkmate Hunger Chess Tournament
Warsaw Community Schools is hosting their annual Checkmate Hunger fall chess tournament to benefit the needy in Haiti.
The tournament will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Madison Elementary School. The school is located at 1436 W. 300 N. Warsaw. Registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with players meeting at 8:45 a.m. The first round will start after the players meeting.
The cost for Warsaw Community Students will be $7. Non-WCS students and adults pay $10. There is no cost to watch. There will be a $5 discount for registering online and paying via PayPal at the following webpage: http://chess.joepye.net/2014WFallEntry.htm
T-shirts will be available for $10. If you register by Wednesday, Nov. 19, your name will appear on the back of the shirt. To preorder, include cost and size during registration.
There will be two sections- both rated and unrated play. In unrated play there will be five rounds in eight categories. There are two rated sections; one Open and one Under 1200.
There will be concessions sponsored by A.C.T.S and medallions and trophies sponsored by Warsaw Educational Foundation.
