Wawasee Falls To Northridge
SYRACUSE – It was a tough one to lose for Wawasee Thursday night. For the 19th straight game in the Northern Lakes Conference, the Wawasee volleyball team lost, this time to Northridge. The visiting Lady Raiders won 25-18, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19.
The losing streak for Wawasee in the NLC dates back to 2012 when the Lady Warriors beat Goshen, but Wawasee lost its final five NLC contests to close out the year and have not won since.
Northridge won its first NLC match of the season and moved to 13-15 overall behind the play of Kelly Miller, who had 18 kills and combined with Keitlyn Kennedy to dig 27 Wawasee attempts. Carlee Christner added 26 assists.
Wawasee (17-15 overall) had Alli Ousley hoist 26 assists, 11 digs and six aces. Aly Anderson was a marvel on the back line with 39 digs and Seaquinn Bright paced the front line with nine kills.
The Northridge JV trumped Wawasee 25-8, 25-15. Tiffany Koble paced Wawasee (11-13) with seven digs while Amy Beer had five assists.
Northridge will finish its regular season Saturday at the Tom Heck Invite at Penn while Wawasee will look toward sectional play with its match against Tippecanoe Valley Thursday in the Fairfield Sectional.
