Big Difference Between Candidates On Gun Rights
Dear Editor:
I read David Kolbe’s recent letter to the editor with great interest, because there is a big difference between the House District 22 candidates on the issue of gun rights. Democrat Kolbe is trying to distract voters from his shaky support of the Second Amendment by implying Republican Curt Nisly is some kind of racist. Here are some facts for readers to consider:
The Gun Owners of America endorsed Curt Nisly because of his strong support for Second Amendment Rights. Nisly is in good company, because the GOA has also endorsed U.S. Representative Marlin Stutzman and Elkhart County Sheriff Brad Rogers. These men are champions for gun rights. By contrast, Democrat Kolbe has stated, “If rated (by the GOA) I would fail,” (Warsaw Times-Union, 4/25/14).
National gun rights groups such as the NRA and the GOA are frequently accused of racism. This is standard fare by the left-wing, anti-gun forces. For example, if one searches for, “NRA is racist” on Google, there are 12,000 hits.
The Gun Owners of America and Larry Pratt have a single-minded purpose when they fight for the Second Amendment. Because of this, they engage other groups all over the political spectrum. Pratt has met with representatives of the ACLU, as well as groups on the far right. His purpose is to advocate for the gun rights of Americans.
In House District 22, there is a clear difference between the candidates on gun rights. Supporters of the Second Amendment should choose wisely and elect Republican Curt Nisly on Nov. 4.
