UPDATE: Accident At Detroit And Anchorage, Warsaw
UPDATE: According to an accident report filed by the Warsaw Police Department, at 10:55 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, Ronald L. Miller, 71, Ruby Court, Goshen, was northbound on Detroit Street. As he was passing through the intersection of Detroit Street and Anchorage Road he collided with a vehicle driven by Sheila A. Juarez, 18, Center Street, Warsaw, which was entering the intersection from Anchorage Road.
The impact of the collision forced Juarez’s vehicle into the roadside at the northeast corner of the intersection, where her vehicle struck the traffic light control box. This caused the traffic lights to malfunction.
Miller was treated by EMS for complaints of chest pain. Christine Miller, 68, Goshen – a passenger in Miller’s vehicle – was treated for pain in her face. Juarez complained of pain in her arm and was treated by EMS.
Both driver’s claimed they had the green light, but due to the traffic lights malfunctioning, officers were unable to determine which driver actually had the right of way. Damages are estimated up to $10,000.
INITIAL REPORT: At approximately 11 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Detroit Street and Anchorage Road in Warsaw for an automobile accident.
According to reports, two vehicles were involved. Several injuries were reported. At least one person is being treated by EMS at the scene.
More information will be provided once a police report is filed. The area should be avoided until police have cleared the scene.
