Whitko’s Nemitz Earns Regional Spot
FORT WAYNE – The Whitko girls cross country program will be represented at the regional this coming Saturday.
Brigit Nemitz of the Wildcats earned a regional qualifying spot as an individual with her performance on Saturday at the Fort Wayne Northrop Sectional.
Nemitz placed 24th overall in the girls’ race, but was in the top 10 finishers of individuals not on one of the top five advancing teams so she moves on as an individual to the regional. Nemitz, who will run in the West Noble Regional, clocked in at 21:06 to lead her team.
Carroll won the girls’ team title at the sectional with a score of 22. Whitko finished in 11th place with a team total of 262.
Michelle Kelsey was 43rd overall in the girls’ race for Whitko in a time of 22:11. Hanna Yohe was 53rd in 22:57, with Courtney Edwards 64th in 23:46 and Angelica Moyer 78th in 26:17 for the Wildcats.
The Whitko boys team also placed 11th with a team total of 297. Carroll also won the boys championship with a 34.
Joshua Wright led Whitko by placing 46th in a time of 18:13. Kyle Whepley was 56th in 18:33, with Jonathon Johnson 59th in 18:37, Collin Bross 67th in 19:31, Logan Busz 69th in 19:38 and Ezra Miller 83rd in 21:26 for Whitko.
