David Heeter Named Sagamore Of The Wabash
David W. Heeter, chief executive officer and director of MutualBank, Muncie, has been named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Mike Pence. The award recognizes Hoosiers who complete distinguished statewide service.
Heeter was presented the award by Sen. Jim Merritt, R, District 31, on Sept. 30 at the Annual Convention of the Indiana Bankers Association in French Lick.
“It is humbling to receive this award,” said Heeter, “especially in the company of the members of the Indiana Bankers Association. For more than 35 years, it has been my honor to serve Hoosier communities through the banking profession.”
In addition to his responsibilities with MutualBank, Heeter also serves as CEO, president and director of MutualFirst Financial Inc. He began his banking career with MutualBank in 1978 and has served in multiple positions, including vice president and executive vice president/chief operating officer, before being named to his current titles in 2003.
Heeter is vice president of the MutualBank Charitable Foundation Inc. He also is a member of the IU Health Ball Memorial Physicians Board, the Community Foundation of Muncie and the Delaware County finance advisory board.
A former member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Community Depository Institution Advisory Council, Heeter has past leadership experience with the Ball State University College of Business alumni board, Muncie Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, United Way and Muncie Family YMCA. Additionally he is a member of the IBA Government Relations Committee and served as a past northeast region director of the IBA board.
Heeter is a graduate of Ball State University and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
