UPDATE: Man Pinned By Tractor Near Warsaw
UPDATE: Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Multi-Township E.M.S. and the Warsaw/Wayne Township Fire Territory responded today at 3:47 p.m. to a report of farm accident. Winona Lake Fire Department personnel arrived first at the location of 226 West, County Road 300 South, Warsaw, and discovered an individual that was pinned underneath a small, utility-farm tractor.
A hydraulic floor jack was used to lift a portion of the tractor off the victim, identified as Gene Denz, 35. Lutheran Air was summoned to the scene and immediately transported Denz to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition with injuries throughout his legs and torso area.
An initial investigation into the incident has determined that Denz had apparently been using a strap attached to the tractor to pull on a small tree/bush at his property. As Denz accelerated the tractor engine, the tractor proceeded to roll and flip backwards, pinning him underneath the machinery.
Denz was last reported to still be in serious condition at the time of this media release.
