Triton Sports Wrap – Sept. 29
The Triton boys and girls cross country teams each notched second place finishes Monday evening.
The host Trojans posted a team score of 41 on the boys side. John Glenn won the boys meet with a team score of 30 and Jimtown scored 49.
Jimtown captured the girls meet with a score of 25. Triton posted a team total of 42, while Glenn and Oregon-Davis did not field complete teams.
Derek Johnston was the top finisher for Triton with a third place finish in a time of 18:01.
Landon Kaufman was sixth overall for the Trojans in 19:11. Bailey Watkins was seventh in 19:19, followed by Cordell Sherow in 12th place (19:55) and Shaun Honeycutt in 13th place (20:35).
Nick Mendenhall of Glenn won the boys race in 17:51.
Bailey McIntire led the way for Triton in the girls race as she placed third overall in a time of 24:12.
Makayla Mussilli was fourth overall in a time of 24:18. Aimee Gladieux was seventh in 26:34, followed by Megan Hayes in 15th (32:23) and Makayla Greenawalt in 18th (37:43) for Triton.
Ashley Burnett of Glenn won the girls race in 22:01.
Volleyball Team Falls
The Trojans volleyball team came up on the short end of a 3-1 final at Winamac.
The hosts won the non-conference tussle 19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.
Becca Kennedy had 10 kills and three aces for the Trojans.
Jaela Meister had eight kills and Lauren Hostrawser had five kills and eight solo blocks. Krystal Sellers had 25 assists and 11 digs.
Quinn Downing had 11 digs, while Courtney Jennings had seven. Nicole Sechrist had four kills and six solo blocks.
Winamac also won the junior varsity match. Brooklyn Bitting had seven kills and Charlotte Morris five for Triton. Hannah Wanemacher had six aces and Katie Hepler eight digs.
