Nisly Brings A Healthy Perspective
To the Editor:
Curt Nisly is a local business owner who brings a healthy perspective to the difficult topic of taxes. Nisly, the Republican candidate for State Representative in House District 22, starts with the premise that what you earn is actually yours.
Now certainly, government has a need to fund its legitimate operations, and this involves some taxation. That said, it is important to study how candidates view money and property rights.
The Democrat candidate for House District 22, lawyer David Kolbe, has a very different view toward property ownership. He made this clear in a Oct. 12, 2005, letter to a daily newspaper.
Are you hoping to leave your family farm or business to the next generation? In his letter to that newspaper, the Democrat candidate strongly supports the death tax. He wrote, “… vested wealth is antiAmerican and antidemocratic as the hoarding of wealth deprives others the opportunity to achieve the American dream.”
Instead of seeing the tax system as the funding for government spending, the Democrat describes the tax system as “how we distribute our assets.” This is chilling.
Notice how the he uses the words “we” and “our.” Kolbe considers all wealth to be owned collectively in one big pot.
Second, notice his use of the the word “distribute.” The Democrat has trouble recognizing private property rights.
Folks, this Democrat is no moderate when it comes to taxation and property rights.
By contrast, Curt Nisly believes that “free people limit government.” I urge readers to Choose Wisely by voting for Republican Curt Nisly in HD22 on Nov. 4.
