Warsaw Soccer Ladies Continue Streak
PLYMOUTH – Make it seven straight for the Warsaw girls soccer team.
The Tigers continued their impressive winning streak Wednesday night with a key conference win at Plymouth.
Coach Peter Lucht’s team showed its mettle in downing the host Pilgrims 4-2 in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Warsaw, which has won its last seven matches, improves to 9-1 overall and goes to 4-1 in NLC action.
Plymouth took the lead Wednesday with the first goal of the contest.
The Tigers did not flinch as they scored the equalizer in the 36th minute on a penalty kick by Liz VanWormer.
Warsaw took a 2-1 lead in the 49th minute as Brooklyn Jackson scored off an assist from VanWormer. The hosts then tied the game at 2-2.
The Tigers were once again not to be denied as they tallied a pair of goals in the game’s final five minutes for the win. VanWormer scored in the 76th minute, assisted by Julie Frazzetta, to make it 3-2. Frazzetta added the final goal, assisted by Clair Snodgrass, in the 77th minute for the 4-2 final.
Plymouth won the junior varsity game 4-1. The Warsaw JV is now 7-2-1 overall and 3-2 in the NLC.
Warsaw will host Manchester Thursday night and then host NLC foe Wawasee on Saturday.
