S.T.A.R. Team Makes Arrest At Underage Party
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department’s Sheriff’s Teenage Alcohol Reduction program team responded to a report of an underage drinking party Sunday, at 521 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen. Once at the property, S.T.A.R. team members met with officers from the Goshen Police Department who had found multiple subjects under the age of 21 who had consumed alcoholic beverages.
Of those arrested, 21 minors were cited and released for Illegal Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage. Of the 21 arrests that were made, 13 were between the ages of 18 and 20 and eight were under the age of 18. All minors were cited and released and those under the age of 18 were released to their parents. In addition to these arrests, one subject was cited and released for possession of marijuana.

- Lexcel Brown, 20, Millersburg
- Chase Browne, 18, Nappanee
- Kasey Bute, 18, Nappanee
- Cristian Chairez, 19, Nappanee
- Morgan Correll, 19, Nappanee
- April Helmuth, 19, Goshen
- Destiny Hossler, 20, Nappanee
- Christian Lanham, 20, Plymouth
- Tristan Leemon, 19, Nappanee
- Dontae Miller, 18, no town listed
- Alicia Nead , 19, Goshen
- Grayson Swalls, 18, Fort Wayne
Austin Kerbs, 20, Nappanee, was cited and released for possession of marijuana.
Elkhart County S.T.A.R. team members and officers assisting with the investigation included Detective Brandon Denesuk, Ptl. Jennifer Cortez, Ptl. Robert Smith, and Ptl. Eric Schuman.
The S.T.A.R. team is comprised of officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. Their main focus is to target and reduce underage drinking and smoking. S.T.A.R. members continue to deter, intervene, and detect underage alcohol violations by educating the community and taking a proactive approach to deterrence and intervention when needed.
