Many Visit Outboard Motor Show
An enthusiastic crowd of collectors descended upon North Webster Town Park Saturday for the annual Michiana Antique Outboard Motor Show and Swap Meet. Held twice a year on the shores of Webster Lake, the event drew folks from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Canada.
The public was welcome to see the motors and related items on display in the park. Chairman of the gathering, Dave Tranter, North Webster reported, “We’ve had an excellent turnout, good weather and one man even donated a 1920s motor to our auction. He explained it had been in his garage for years.”
The organization was recognized by the Dixie Sternwheeler Inc. for its support of the Dixie and North Webster. DSI President Karilyn Metcalf presented the award.
She explained, “The Michiana Antique Outboard Motor Association has generously donated manpower and money for the restoration and operation of the local tour boat for the past six years.” The framed certificate will be displayed on the lower deck of the Dixie as a show of appreciation.
