KCSD Apprehends Alleged North Webster Bank Robber
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies have apprehended and arrested the suspect from last week’s North Webster bank robbery.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and detectives took the alleged suspect involved in last week’s bank robbery of the Key Bank into custody without incident this morning, just north of Warsaw.
Zachary Springer, 28, of Warsaw, was arrested and preliminarily charged with false informing, habitual offender and felony level 2 robbery and theft. Detectives had determined through their investigation that Springer had initially placed a false telephone call last Friday morning to the Wawasee High School as a diversionary ploy, according to Captain Aaron Rovenstine. Officers allege that approximately 22 minutes later, Springer entered and robbed the Key Bank along SR 13 in the town of North Webster.
“Deputies had worked tirelessly on this investigation from the initial call, determined to locate and apprehend the suspect,” stated Rovenstine. He also stated that detectives and crime scene technicians had executed search warrants today on Springer’s residence, along with his vehicle that was secured this morning during the arrest.
Springer is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $400,000 surety bond.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
