Warsaw Soars Past Eagles

WARSAW – The Warsaw volleyball team welcomed in Columbia City Tuesday night.
The host Tigers celebrated Senior Night in front of a large home crowd by defeating the Eagles 3-1.
Warsaw, after dropping the first set 25-18, rolled in the final three 25-8, 25-14, 25-17.
Senior Katie Voelz led the way for Warsaw with 25 kills as the Tigers improved to 12-3 on the season with the non-conference win.
Senior Celia Heckert added six kills and a block for the Tigers in the win.
“The girls calmed down very well after the first set after being a little over excited, and cut down on the errors after relaxing,” said Warsaw coach Mike Howard.
After the first set, Warsaw hardly trailed throughout the rest of the match.
“We also served very well,” Howard added.
With junior Jordyn Lindeman swatting seven aces and sophomore Cassie Hoag having three, the Tigers rolled. Lindeman also had six kills in the victory.
Other Warsaw standouts included Peyton Adamiec collecting 19 digs and seven assists, Courtney Steffensmeier getting two blocks, and Cassie Hoag adding in 37 assists and 17 digs.
The Warsaw junior varsity team posted a 25-18, 25-19 win. Hanna Leach had eight kills, while Kenzie Welk had five and Alexia Day four. Raina Armey had eight digs, while Dayton Groninger had five aces. Abby Serbousek had 11 assists, five digs, three aces and one block as the JV Tigers improved to 10-1.
Warsaw will put its undefeated conference mark (3-0) on the line at Plymouth Thursday in Northern Lakes Conference action.
