Warriors Put Away Eagles
SYRACUSE – Wawasee made up for a miscue in a big way Wednesday, recovering to shut out Columbia City 2-0 in boys soccer at Warrior Field.
The Warriors overcame a missed penalty kick by Ricky Camargo in the 55th minute of a scoreless game. Camargo found redemption just five minutes later by drawing a penalty, which Luis Camargo converted to break the scoreless draw.
Eight minutes before time, Brock O’Haver sent in a lengthy pass which fell to Cameron Schlabach, to which Schlabach not only buried the dagger, but netted his first career varsity goal.
Korey Knafel was credited with five saves for his fourth shutout of the campaign.
The two JV clubs battled to a nil-nil draw.
Wawasee (4-3-3) will host East Noble Saturday morning.
