News for the North Webster Public Library
NORTH WEBSTER – It’s time again for the Friends of the Library’s annual Mega Book Sale on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Sept. 25-27. This is the organization’s biggest sale of the year with thousands of gently used adult and children’s books, movies, CDs, games, puzzles and more on sale for low bargain prices.
The sale will be held in the North Webster Community Center’s banquet hall with sale hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. This Mega Sale is a convenient and inexpensive way to build up your home library, get a jump start on your Christmas gift-giving list, and stock up on children’s books for the school year.
The Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization that supports the library through fundraising to provide equipment and supplies not covered by the library’s budget, assisting with special programs and events, and helping the staff as needed. New members are welcomed. Membership applications are available at the library or can be downloaded from the library website at www.nweb.lib.in.us/about/index.
Next week starts off with Voyager Book Club on Monday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. discussing thriller books. Then at 5:30 p.m. that day the weekly weight loss support group, Lose It @ The Library, will join with Dr. Darrell Carr, ND, in a Thyroid Workshop. Dr. Carr will explain how to regain your energy, lose body fat, and heal your thyroid through nutrition, lifestyle changes, and lab testing. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Casseroles will be the focus at Revolving Recipe Round-Up on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. when everyone brings in delicious casseroles and recipes to share with one another. The library supplies the table service and free coffee and bottled water while participants provide the food, fellowship, and fun.
The kids will be having their own kind of fun at Storybook BINGO on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Kids ages four to eight will have chances to win prizes by playing BINGO using cards with storybook characters on them. There will be lots of prizes and chances to win.
For a free night at the movies, come to Family Movie Time on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 5 p.m. We’ll be showing a PG rated film about an overworked mother and her daughter who are forced to adapt to the other’s life when they switch bodies for one freaky Friday. The movie runs 97 minutes, so bring along some beverages and help yourselves to the free popcorn.
The library has many new books in large print format. If you love to read, but struggle with small type, come in and check out the new large print arrivals.
