Stutzman Supports Employee Health Care Protection Act
U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement on H.R. 3522, the Employee Health Care Protection Act.
“Today, I was proud to stand with both small businesses and wage earners by supporting the Employee Health Care Protection Act, sponsored by Dr. Cassidy. Over the past year, millions of hard working Americans were forced off of plans they were told they could keep. As a result, I am deeply concerned that many more working families in Indiana and around the country will fall victim to Obamacare.
“In this Obama economy too many middle class Americans are worried about keeping their jobs, providing for their families, and making ends meet. The last thing they should worry about is coming home from work and opening up their mailbox to find a cancellation letter from their health provider. I will continue to work my hardest to prevent that from happening to my constituents.”
Background on H.R. 3522
This legislation allows American workers who participated in the group insurance market during the calendar year of 2013 to keep their plans through 2019, and be considered as a grandfathered health plan under Section 1501(b) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. It also allows many small businesses and their employees to select non-ACA compliant plans, providing more affordable options to meet their needs.
