WABASH – The Triton football team was bidding for the program’s first 2-0 start in five years Friday night.
But host Northfield was not a kind host to the Trojans.
The Norsemen pulled away to defeat Triton 49-20 in non-conference action.
Northfield, which beat the Trojans 27-6 a season ago, led 7-0 after the opening period. Triton tied the contest at 7-7 before the hosts took a 28-13 halftime lead.
Triton falls to 1-1 on the season and the Norsemen improve to 2-0. The last Triton team to start the year 2-0 was its 2009 sectional championship squad.
Triton hosts Culver next Friday night in the Northern State Conference opener.
