Warsaw’s Rogers Signs With Dolphins
Warsaw native and former standout kicker Jake Rogers was signed by the Miami Dolphins on Monday.
The 27-year old Rogers kicked for the Tigers for just one season. He set program records for most PATs, most field goals and longest field goal. Rogers was a soccer standout at WCHS, setting records for career goals and points scored.
Rogers, the son of Jim and Vicky Rogers, played at the University of Cincinnati from 2007-10. He finished his collegiate career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 339 points. Rogers hit 51-75 field goals and a record 63 PATs in 2009.
Rogers, who was undrafted out of Cincinnati, was in camp with the Cleveland Browns last year. He has also spent time with Tampa Bay, Dallas, Washington and the New York Giants.
Rogers, who has never kicked in an NFL regular-season game, is the fourth kicker for Miami since the start of training camp. Starter Caleb Sturgis is out due to a groin injury and his status for the season opener versus New England on Sept. 7 in uncertain. Kicker John Potter injured his hip in a game versus Dallas this past weekend.
