NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Kosciusko County, as well as Marshall, Elkhart, Fulton, St. Joseph, Wabash and Whitley Counties. The watch is in effect until midnight tonight.
According to a statement from NWS, storms could produce winds up to 50 mph, possible hail up to an inch in diameter, lightning and torrential downpours. There is a possibility of debris blowing around in the high winds. Residence are instructed to seek shelter until the storms have passed.
The latest reports indicate that Nappanee, Goshen, Elkhart, Bremen and Plymouth are in the direct path of these storms. However, most of the Michiana area should expect heavy rainfall throughout Monday evening.
Tomorrow, hot and humid conditions are expected, and rainfall is a possibility through most of Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to rise above 90 degrees in the afternoon.
