Fond Memories Inspire Limitless Park Crowdfunding
Joanna Harvey lives in California, but her family has owned a cottage in Winona Lake for four generations. She fondly remembers childhood summers spent on the lake. It’s these memories that inspired her to start a crowd funding campaign to support the Limitless Park project in Winona Lake.
“I came across this initiative last summer,” says Harvey. “And I came across the website.”
At the time, The Limitless Park and Splash Pad project had a couple of options for giving donations. One was a traditional donation letter, the other was a rather lengthy online donation form.
Harvey has a background in digital media, and thought she could help simplify the donation process with crowd funding. “I’ve set this up independently,” she says of her Fundly campaign. “Once the campaign ends, I’ll be giving them all the money. I wanted to give individuals a chance to crowd fund.”
“I met [Harvey] briefly at Fat and Skinny Tire Fest,” says Holly Hummitch, director of Winona Lake Parks Department. The two of them chatted, and Hummitch gave her some information.
“Next thing I knew, I saw it on Facebook, and I was like ‘awesome,’” Hummitch says.
Unfortunately the campaign hasn’t quite caught on. At the time this article was posted, only $45 has been donated. Harvey’s campaign goal was $10,000.
“Whatever money I raised, I’m happy to give that to them,” says Harvey. “We’re very appreciative of anyone who wants to donate,” adds Hummitch.
Harvey’s campaign still has 27 days left. To show support for the Limitless Park project, visit Harvey’s Fundly page here.
