30th Annual CROP Hunger Walk Set
The first Kosciusko CROP Hunger Walk was held in 1984 to raise awareness of hunger around the world. Now, 30 years later, the annual walk continues.
The 30th annual walk will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, beginning at The Salvation Army, 501 E. Arthur St., Warsaw. The walk includes the Beyer Farm Trail or a shorter route that passes through Oakwood Cemetery.
Monies collected by the walkers go to support Church World Service and their outreach around the world to address hunger, emergencies, refugees, immigration, children and water. The needs in all of these areas continue to increase around the world.
Church World Service is a cooperative ministry of 37 Christian communions working with partners to eradicate hunger and poverty and to promote peace and justice around the world. The Salvation Army will receive 25% of the proceeds locally to address hunger in Kosciusko County and support its Choice Food Pantry. The event is sponsored by the Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association to raise awareness and funds to address the growing needs of poverty around the world.
An informational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at The Salvation Army to distribute materials to churches, businesses and groups that want to participate. Persons may also register or donate online. Donations may also be sent my mail to: GWMA, P.O. Box 1797, Warsaw, IN 46581.
