Meet Non-humans From The Doctor
The Syracuse Library is meeting the Doctor with monthly group activities. The August meeting is talking about major characters from other galaxies. All levels of experience with the Doctor are invited to come for a couple of hours of Doctor Who. Meet the Doctor is on the third Wednesday of the month from 6 to 8 in the meeting room. Any adventurer may attend on Aug. 20, with or without fan clothes.
The BBC has been producing Doctor Who stories for over 50 years. Many people have kept-up with the series, but people that are interested in starting the series may feel overwhelmed due to a lack of knowing the back-story. The group has decided to focus on the new doctor with this month’s meeting using material from Series one through four.
Friends Meet to Evaluate the Book Sale
The Friends of the Library are having a fall meeting to evaluate the success of the annual book sale. At 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, will be an FOL meeting to look at the treasure’s report and designate library programs to receive funding. The mission of the FOL is to assist the Syracuse Library in promoting literacy and to provide learning resources to the citizens of the community. Any interested people are invited to the meeting.
The Young Adult Book Club Begins Another Year
Young people have an opportunity to meet other book loving teens. The group meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month to play games, discuss stories, and eat snacks. The first book club meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. The game is Life and the food is chocolate. All young people between grades 6-12 are invited to join the group; come alone or bring a friend.
