Indiana Navigators Certified To Assist In Healthcare Applications
Through the combined efforts of the governor, legislators, state agencies, education providers, and specialists in the healthcare and insurance industries, the Indiana Department of Insurance established the Indiana Navigator program to provide healthcare coverage application assistance for all Hoosiers.
Indiana Navigators serve as knowledgeable resources for Hoosiers wanting to enroll in health insurance coverage through the federally-facilitated Marketplace. Navigators also assist Hoosiers with completing applications for state-based insurance affordability programs, such as Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or the Healthy Indiana Plan. They also will be able to assist Hoosiers in enrolling in HIP 2.0, should the federal government approve the program as an alternative to Medicaid.
While helping consumers complete applications for health insurance coverage, Indiana Navigators must be certified, act in the best interest of the consumer and provide fair, impartial and accurate information. When choosing an Indiana Navigator, check online first to confirm the navigator is certified with the State of Indiana, or call 317-232-2414.
“There have been zero reports of fraud, abuse, breaches of privacy/security, or recurrent application-submission problems by Indiana Navigators. This success is due to the hard work, commitment, cooperation and leadership of everyone involved with this program,” said IDOI Navigator Director Matt Tapp.
Currently, there are over 1,000 trained and certified Indiana Navigators serving all 92 counties in Indiana. Navigators may serve Hoosier consumers independently or on behalf of an Application Organization. There are currently over 250 registered Application Organization locations serving Indiana. A listing of Indiana Navigators and Application Organizations can be found through the IDOI website at www.in.gov/idoi/2823.htm.
“I am thankful for the service of our Indiana Navigators and encourage Hoosiers to utilize their assistance,” said Tapp.
Any individual or family interested in applying for enrollment in a health insurance affordability program may use the Indiana Navigator services.
