The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce provided a luncheon to welcome all new educators to Kosciusko County Friday.

School is about to begin and new teachers are moving into the county to fill the educational needs of our children. On Friday, Aug. 8, the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce provided a luncheon to welcome all new educators to Kosciusko County. The event was partnered by Teachers Credit Union, Flexaust, Good Oil Company and Wildman Business Group.

Lakeland Christian Academy, Tippecanoe Valley, Warsaw, and Wawasee schools as well as the Chamber’s Education Workforce Development Committee were present at the luncheon.

Mark Dobson, President & CEO of the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce welcomed all and spoke about education being one of the Chamber’s initiatives. Dobson then introduced Anna Jackson representing the Warsaw Community Public Library and Tracy Furnivall of the Baker Youth Club who spoke about the different programs and services offered to Kosciusko County residents.

Jared Knipper, a kindergarten teacher at Syracuse Elementary and part time police officer in Ligonier, was the guest speaker at the luncheon. Knipper spoke about his career transition from law enforcement to education and how impactful teachers are to the community stating, “Be the person that makes the difference in their life, because it takes a significant adult in a child’s life to change the pattern that they are in”. The educator attendees received goodie bags filled with a variety of items provided from local businesses.

This is an annual event put on by the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce to welcome these much appreciated members of our community.
