Grace College Graduate Dies In Motorcycle Crash
Not often emergency room staff find themselves trying to save the life of a co-worker. However, the ER staff at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, found themselves doing just that, but with a tragic ending.
According to WSBT News, Nicole Beguin, 23, Plymouth, died from injuries in a motorcycle accident which occurred at Sample and Michigan in South Bend. Beguin was not only a nurse at Memorial Hospital, but a 2013 graduate of Grace College, Warsaw.
Beguin and Andrew Pavolka, LaPorte, a South Bend Firefighter and also an ER employee at Memorial, were on a motorcycle when it collided with a car early Saturday. Pavolka, the driver of the motorcycle, and Beguin, his passenger, were both wearing helmets. Pavolka is reportedly in good condition.
The driver of the car, identified as 49-year-old Roger Werner, Granger, was not seriously injured.
Information provided by WSBT notes Beguin was an accomplished tennis player while attending Grace College. Grace College Sports Information Director, Josh Neuhart, confirmed the information.
The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is investigating the accident.
