UPDATE: Barn Fire On DNR Property
UPDATE: Detectives of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a barn fire that happened Sunday night.
The North Webster Fire Department was called to the blaze at 9:44 p.m. at 2687 N. 850 E. The barn was on property owned by the DNR. The fire also spread to fields on either side of the barn and to a wooded area. Neighboring fire departments including Pierceton and Leesburg/Plain Township and Larwill were called for a full assist while several other fire departments were put on standby status.
The KCSD is not releasing any information about the fire at this time, only noting that it is suspicious and remains under investigation.
BREAKING: North Webster Fire Department was notified of a barn fire at 2687 N. 850 E. around 9:44 p.m. this evening. The barn, reportedly on DNR property, was located between CR 250N and CR 300N.
Initially North Webster Fire Department requested tanker assist from Pierceton Fire Department but after receiving notification from the county’s Central 911 Dispatch, that the fire had spread to fields on either side of the barn and to a wooded area, a full assist from Pierceton and Leesburg fire departments was called. Larwill Fire Department was also reportedly called in. Several other fire departments were put on standby status for those departments responding.
According to scanner traffic, the fire was under control approximately 45 minutes after the initial call.
