WCPL Hosting Fall Children’s Story Times
Article by Duane Herendeen, WCPL Children's Department Supervisor
Now that we have caught our breath after a very successful and fun children’s Summer Reading Program, it’s time to start focusing on our Fall Story Time programs. We always try to make our theme for the programs interesting and educational at the same time and this fall’s theme, farming, I believe delivers both in great ways. I’m excited to announce that “the big red barn” story times will begin at the Warsaw Community Public Library in September for children age 2-5 years of age. With an emphasis on animals, seasons, crops and farming fun, your child will get to spend some time on the farm at the library!
Story times for 2-year-old children begins on at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16. Mrs. Stephanie will bring the world of farming to your child through interactive story telling, sing-a-longs, games, laughter, and arts/crafts. They’ll enjoy a half hour of fun and it’s a great opportunity to go upstairs afterward and spend some quality “library” time with your family.
Story times for children ages 3-5 years begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18. For those of you who are past visitors to our story times, you’ll notice that the day of the week has changed. With Ms. Amy and myself taking turns, we’ll share stories, sing some silly songs, learn some interesting farming facts, and get creative with art supplies. After spending 45 minutes of discovering about farm fun, the entire family can head upstairs and get all those fun farm books you’ve heard about.
With all story time programs, we do require that each child attending a story time program be registered. This helps us prepare in advance the necessary supplies we’ll need for the arts and crafts they all enjoy making and taking home. You can register online at, www.warsawlibrary.org, or at the children’s reference desk at the Warsaw Community Public Library. Story Times at the library are such a great resource for your family when it comes to introducing your children to all that the library has to offer so we hope to see you there. Let’s keep them reading!
