A Warsaw man was arrested on drug charges after police in Kosciusko County responded to an explosion call.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded this morning at approximately 1:06 a.m. to the location of 5571 South, Lake Shore Drive West, Warsaw, after receiving a 9-1-1 call of a potential loud explosion. Officers arrived at the Sellers Lake area and located the homeowner, identified as William Daniel Kent, Jr., 53. Deputies immediately summoned the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force (DTF), along with the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Lab Team, after noticing numerous items related to the manufacturing of methamphetamine. DTF officers obtained a search warrant for the property and located more items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine, two one-pot method meth labs as well as an area that appeared to have been recently scorched from the reported explosion.
Kent was taken into custody without incident and preliminarily charged with a level 3, felony possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance/methamphetamine. He is currently being held on a prosecutorial hold in the Kosciusko County Jail.
Assisting the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department were members from the Winona Lake Police Department, Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Lab Team and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
