Mobile Food Pantry Coming To County
Food Bank of Northern Indiana will be bringing three mobile food pantries to Kosciusko County this month. The pantries are an effort to feed those directly in need of assistance.
Fresh perishable items (dairy, grains, produce and protein) and dry goods are offered free of charge to northern Indiana residents. The Food Bank sets up tables at pre-scheduled locations where people can “shop” and select items that best meet their needs.
The mobile food pantries are first come, first served for those in need of food assistance, based on available product and while supplies last. Patrons must provide a valid photo ID (Indiana driver’s license or Indiana ID) and are asked to bring bags or boxes to transport their items home.
If weather conditions are adverse, there is a possibility that a mobile food pantry could be cancelled.
The local schedule is as follows:
- Friday, Aug. 8 – 10 a.m. to noon at Burket United Methodist Church, 102 Market St., Burket
- Friday, Aug. 15 – 10 a.m. to noon at Town Barn, 408 Graceland Ave., Claypool
- Tuesday, Aug 19 – 10 a.m. to noon at God’s Highway to Heaven, 555 Weber St., Warsaw
The Food Bank of Northern Indiana works in partnership to feed the hungry, increase awareness of the effects of hunger and leads programs designed to alleviate hunger. The Food Bank of Northern Indiana serves Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, Starke and St. Joseph counties and is a member of Feeding America, Feeding Indiana’s Hungry and United Way.
