Hundreds Attend WCS E3 Technology Conference
Hundreds of educators from across the state gathered both yesterday and today for Warsaw Community School’s E3 Technology Conference, located at Warsaw Community High School in the Performing Arts Center and WCHS classrooms.
A total of 380 guests were hosted by WCS today for the conference including Glenda Ritz, State Superintendent. Educators were able to attend numerous courses spanning from the basics of Twitter use to teaching how to utilize Google applications in classroom settings.
Key note speakers included Angela Maiers who brings both 25 years of experience as an educator and a passion for the pursuit of literacy and learning. Maiers spoke yesterday on “liberating genius,” a topic she notes is not an inspiration or utopian hope for students but a movement designed to help leaders and learners break free from the addiction of security and acceptance of mediocrity to rekindle the genius within.
In addition to Maiers, Kevin Honeycutt, recipient of the 1991 “Making IT Happen Award”, author of Don’t Stay Under The Couch: Starbuck and The Bull spoke as a keynote speaker during today’s conference.
Honeycutt is the developer of an online safety, anti-bullying and cyber-bullying curriculum which he shares with parents, teachers and students around the country. Honeycutt shared with educators the importance of learning along with students to set positive examples for student success as well as how parents can ensure online safety for their kids.
Today’s conference workshops will end at 3 p.m. and will be followed by an end-of-the give-away.
