Kosciusko Employment Numbers Are Up
Total employment in Kosciusko County for May 2014 hit 40,460, which is 736 more people employed than April.
“We have not seen this level of total employed since before the recession,” noted Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation President George Robertson. “Part of the increase is summer hiring for our seasonal industries but a significant amount of it is manufacturing jobs that were expansion projects that have been previously announced and are now hiring,” he reported to yesterday’s County Redevelopment Commission meeting. Only 3 Indiana counties have a lower unemployment rate than Kosciusko County.

R.R. Donnelley currently has over 1,000 employees in the county and has been a major employer for over 50 years. Pierog thanked the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and KEDCo for the ongoing assistance and support in making this project a reality in Kosciusko County.
The company would hire an additional 75 employees starting late fall once the new equipment is installed with the potential for future employment growth.
Larry Teghtmeyer, vice chair Kosciusko County Council, noted that “R.R. Donnelly is a significant manufacturing employer in Kosciusko County. We are excited about their acquisition of state of the art printing equipment that will not only add nearly 100 good paying jobs for our citizens but help retain the current employment base as they become more cost competitive to serve their customers.”
