Trupointe Celebrates Milford Agronomy Hub Opening
Trupointe Cooperative Inc. held a grand opening celebration of its new Milford agronomy hub for area growers, business leaders, governmental officials and other guests throughout the day Tuesday.
A red ribbon was cut by Trupointe’s board of directors and leadership team. Prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, keynote speaker Kent Yeager, Indiana agriculture liaison for U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly, spoke on impacting Indiana’s agriculture community, modernizing the agricultural industry, and the importance of economic development.
Trupointe is a full service agronomy hub. Serving growers in a 60-mile radius, Milford’s hub offers fertilizer, crop protection products, crop nutrients, crop scouting, application services and precision agriculture. The project was in the planning stages for 18 months before ground was broken in March 2013. Trupointe is based in Piqua, Ohio, and has 41 locations throughout Ohio and Indiana with more than 4,000 members.
Also speaking were Gordon Wallace, COO of Trupointe, about the importance of customer service, and John Waymire, chairman of Trupointe’s board of directors, on preparing and investing for the future.
Invited guests toured the facilities, where they learned about operational procedures and met sales team members, the operations crew and administration.
Also speaking was Larry Hammond, CEO of Trupointe, on leading with intentionality. He said Trupointe is intentional in its growth. “We must grow to be sustainable,” he said. “Milford is a great location for us.”
Hammond added, “We are excited to work with and serve the growers of Indiana. Our board of directors and administration chose the Milford location due to the successful agricultural industry surrounding the area and the crossing of two main railway lines, allowing us to provide key resources and opportunities to the growers of Indiana.”
Hammond said Trupointe wants to do what is right for the customer, the company and God.
Providing meals were Kosciusko County Cattlemen’s Association and Kosciusko County Pork Producers, with homemade ice cream by Echoes of the Past. Also helping with activities throughout the day were Kosciusko 4-H Beef Committee, Wawasee FFA, Fairfield FFA, Northwood FFA, and Warsaw FFA.
A grain facility is in the planning stages, said Jim Wolf, regional sales director.
