Richard D. McLaughlin
Richard D. McLaughlin, 87, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 16, 1927, in St. Regis, Mont., to Thomas A. McLaughlin Theoda (Hoppus) McLaughlin. He was a 1945 graduate of Warsaw High School. He entered the United States Army April 20, 1945, in Indianapolis, Ind. During his tour of duty he proudly served as a member of General Douglas MacArthur’s honor guard. PFC Honor Guard Company GHQ was honorably discharged Dec. 31, 1946, from Fort Sheridan, Ill. He married Billie Jo Maggart on November of 1948, in Pierceton, Ind.
He was a lifetime Warsaw. He was a cable splicer for United Telephone where he was employed for 40 years retiring in 1988. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by two sons: Michael (Linda) McLaughlin, Warsaw; Rick McLaughlin, Warsaw; one daughter: Debby McLaughlin, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; granddaughter: Reesha McLaughlin.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Titus Funeral home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 27, at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice chaplain, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126 following the service. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
