Town Bands Together In Wake Of Tragedy
A tragic accident in Silver Lake claimed the life of a 4-year-old boy from Claypool yesterday (see related). Today, the town of Silver Lake is pulling together in honor of the boy and his family.
According to Tonya Conley, Silver Lake clerk-treasurer, the town has set-up a memorial fund for the family of Logan Heeter to assist in paying funeral expenses. Those wishing to donate to the family are directed to visit any Lake City Bank branch to give their donation to the Logan Heeter Memorial Fund. Conley notes that any amount will be greatly appreciated and will assist the family in their time of need.
In addition to the memorial fund, a float is being dedicated to Logan during the Silver Lake Day’s Festival. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, on SR 14 in Silver Lake. Fliers will be passed out during the parade explaining how to donate to the family. Several collection areas will be featured throughout the Silver Lake Days Festival as well.
For those looking for somewhere to honor the memory of Logan or offer support to his family, a small memorial site has been established across from Silver Lake Town Hall next to the Mini Mart where teddy bears, flowers or other gifts of remembrance may be given.
