Auditions For Community Theatre Production Scheduled
Center Street Community Theatre will hold auditions next week for its production of You Can’t Take It With You, by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart.
Initial auditions will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 23. Callbacks will then be Thursday, June 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both auditions and callbacks will be held in the black box theatre at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center.
The play calls for nine men (1 black, 8 any race) and seven women (1 black, 6 any race).
“We want everyone who comes out to audition to have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their skill,” says Jennifer Shepherd, director and acting president of the community theatre. “So we don’t expect anyone to come in with a prepared monologue, or anything like that – just a willingness to read from the script and an idea of the scheduling conflicts they may have.”
This will be the first production for the newly formed community theatre. Greg Teghtmeyer, founding member and acting marketing director for the group, states that they chose You Can’t Take It With You very intentionally.
“We want our first show to provide ample opportunity for community involvement, and to be something that will draw in audiences,” he says. “This play has a terrific script: it’s both incredibly funny and very poignant.”
