Local Woman Shares Story Of Hope
A tumor wrapped around Rachael Polston’s optic nerve caused her to be blind in one eye which made it difficult to judge distance and depth. Diabetes added obstacles to her unstable balance. After two serious falls her husband, Randy, knew they needed help.
That is when Randy checked on available in-home services and Kosciusko Home Care was contacted. Rachael receives visits from home care nurses, aides and homemakers. They help with skilled medical care, showers and basic cleaning. Rachael feels very grateful for all the assistance she receives and feels it has helped her tremendously.
Because Rachael’s blood glucose levels can drop quickly she also has a Lifeline button to push for help. Rachael wanted her grandson, who was 2 years old at the time, to be taught how to use the Lifeline button. After some practice, he is now very comfortable requesting help for his grandmother if ever needed.
Rachael’s family home of 21 years is two stories tall. Her home care nurse helped her complete paperwork to qualify for a chair lift for her stairs so she can still live independently. Rachael shared that she would not be able to stay in her home if it wasn’t for the assistance of Kosciusko Home Care.
These serious health issues have not held Rachael back from leading a powerful life of helping and encouraging others. She is passionate about praying and uses her strong faith to bring hope to others.
