On May 31, area kids ages 3 to 16 cast their reels and spent time with family at the Kids All American Fishing Derby. The derby, hosted by the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department at Center Lake, featured free fishing, fun contests and prize drawings. Every child in attendance received a goody bag filled with souvenirs to take home.
Gannon Gonzalez won first place in the Kids Casting Contest for the 4 and Under category. Sierra Norris placed second. Ema Deney placed third. Cayman Blake won first place in the Kids Casting Contest for the 5-8 age category. Noah Jacobs placed second. Abby Jacobs placed third.
Marissa Walling won first place in the Kids Casting Contest for the 9-12 age category. Mikaylynn Gibbs placed second. Allison Gonzalez placed third. Joseph Robinson won first place in the Kids Casting Contest for the 13-16 category. Alex Poore placed second. Zack Herbster placed third. Casting Contest winners were awarded certificates and prizes for their display of casting skill.

The grand prize winner was Dwayne Ohrt, 16, who caught the biggest fish overall, which was a 4 pound 8 ounce Bowfin.
