No one was hurt when a semi struck a passenger car on Lake City Highway in Warsaw early Monday afternoon.
According to a Warsaw Police Department report, the crash happened at 1:01 p.m. at the Lake City Highway and East Center Street intersection when Rachna Parwani, 26, of Chicago, apparently disregarded a red light and turned into the path of the eastbound truck, driven by 53-year-old Todd Stoehr of Clintonville, Wisc.
Parwani, according to witnesses, was westbound on the highway and attempting to turn left onto Center Street on a red traffic signal. One witness said Parwani began to pull out in front of her, but she was able to avoid a collision. Stoehr said Parwani’s Nissan Sentra stopped suddenly in the intersection and he was not able to avoid the accident.
No one was hurt in the crash, which tied up traffic for about 30 minutes and resulted in approximately $10,000 in damages.
Warsaw Police were assisted on scene by firefighters of Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory.
