UPDATE: Box Truck V. Car In Webster
UPDATE: North Webster Town Marshal Greg Church reports Douglas B. Walker, Jr., 32, Tidewater Trail, Fort Wayne, was driving a 2011 International box truck registered to Nestle Trans Corp., when an item fell off the dash, just prior to the accident.
Walker told police he reached for the item and when he looked back up, a 1994 Honda driven by Nicholas A. Stiles, 23, West Columbia Street, Pierceton, had stopped or slowed to turn left into Freedom Express. Walker applied the truck’s brakes but was unable to avoid hitting the back of Stiles’ vehicle.
After inpact the vehicle spun coming to a stop in the southbound lane of SR 13.
A passenger in Stiles’ vehicle, Elizabeth I. Likens, 27, East Backwater Road, North Webster, complained of pain to the neck. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Stiles was cited for failure to maintain insurance.
BREAKING: Fortunately, it is believed that only minor injuries have occurred in an accident in North Webster reportedly involving a semi and a passenger car.
The accident on SR 13 near the Freedom Express gas station.
Reporter Deb Patterson went to the scene and learned that it was actually a refrigerated truck that allegedly rear-ended the car. The accident is under investigation and a full report will be available later.
An occupant of the car was taken to a local hospital for examination after complaining of back pain.
