Young Adults Summer Reading and Book Club
Young people are encouraged to attend the last book club meeting of the school year. Teens can share either a favorite video game character or a fictitious character that they think would make an interesting video character. The griddle will be at the meeting to make some pancakes. People in sixth grade to twelfth grade are invited to attend from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday June 3, in the meeting room.
Tuesday, June 3, is the first day to sign-up to participate in Spark-a-Reaction, the teen summer reading program. Weekly prizes will be drawn from entries of books that are checked-out and read from the Syracuse Library. A new prize this year is that any teen that reads a thousand pages will get a new book of their choice.
Friends of the Library to have an Annual Meeting
Syracuse FOL President Allyson Ellis has announced that the annual meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5. The get-together is a nice time to meet other library users who are interested in helping the library provide a full range of activities. Contributions through dues is a major way to raise money followed by the sales of used books. The yearly meeting is legally required to maintain nonprofit status. Light refreshments are served and a congenial atmosphere is anticipated. The meeting is open to any interested party.
