Triton Sports Wrap – May 20
Triton responded to a 1-0 deficit to LaVille Tuesday night with a six-run outburst, leading to a 6-3 win in Bourbon.
Cole Creighbaum had the big blow for Triton, tripling in three runs in the second inning. Grant Stichter also had a triple among his two hits and drove in a run while teammate Nathan Flenar had two hits and an RBI to aid the Trojans.
Triton touched up LaVille starter Jordan Smith for eight hits and five walks. Smith’s counterpart, Ben Perkins, was solid for Triton, allowing seven hits, no walks and five strikeouts in the complete game win.
Brandon Gullett and Smith both had two hits to pace the Lancers.
Triton moves to 8-13 overall and 6-7 in the Northern State Conference with the win and will close out its NSC schedule by hosting New Prairie Wednesday.
Lady Trojans Clobber LaVille
Triton kept rolling in the NSC, clobbering LaVille, 12-2, Tuesday afternoon in Lakeville.
Lexee Lemler had a huge night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Allyson Brown also had three hits and Krystal Sellers continued to mash at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two runs driven in.
Mallorie Jennings was masterful again in the circle. The senior gave up just six hits and one earned run over five innings, walking two and fanning six. Jennings is currently 13-4 on the season with an earned run average of 0.99.
Hannah Herbster did the only real damage for LaVille, stroking a solo homer in the fifth inning.
Triton, now 19-5 on the season and 10-3 in the NSC, will visit New Prairie in the final NSC game of the season for the Lady Trojans.
