Warriors Double Up Redskins
GOSHEN – Wawasee put together quite a night in Goshen Monday, posting both varsity and JV baseball wins against Goshen. At Phend Field, the varsity strung together a three-run second inning which made the difference in a 4-1 win. The JV jumped out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 10-3 final.
Wawasee had contributions from several in the Northern Lakes Conference varsity win. Gage Fannin was solid on the hill, tossing a three-hitter in the compete game. Fannin struck out seven and allowed just the one run in the first inning, picking up his fourth win of the season.
Gage Reinhard had two hits at the dish, scoring two runs and also drawing a hit-by-pitch. Nate Prescott also was beaned with a pitch, doubled, walked and scored a run. Andrew Milligan added a two-run single in the second inning.
Lucas Garza was huge for the Warriors in the JV game. Garza struck out six in the complete game and also added three hits. Stephon Miller added three hits while Aaron Beer and Rieder Hunley added four hits apiece.
Wawasee’s varsity (8-13 overall, 3-9 NLC) will play again Wednesday against Concord as its Tuesday game with Fairfield was cancelled. The Wawasee JV (11-5) will face Fairfield Tuesday.
