Tigers Drop Two In Own Tourney
WARSAW – The Warsaw softball team dropped two games in its own Tiger Tournament Saturday.
Peru bested the hosts 12-5 in the opening game.
Sydney Hernadez had four hits to lead the Tigers. Warsaw committed five errors in the loss. Taylor Stiver and Whitney Sleeth each had two hits for Warsaw.
Fort Wayne Concordia then topped the Tigers 10-6 in the consolation game. Warsaw managed just four hits in that game. Ashley Ousley led the Tigers with two hits.
Warsaw, now 6-14 overall, will play at Northern Lakes Conference foe Concord tonight at 5 p.m. Warsaw, who will then face Concord again in the Elkhart Central Sectional on May 26, is 5-6 in league play.
The Warsaw junior varsity team went 1-1 Saturday in a tournament.
The JV Tigers lost 24-16 to NorthWood and then topped Goshen 13-10 in the consolation game.
Sara Shoemaker led the Tigers on the day with eight hits. Taylor Sleeth had six hits in the two games, while Miquela Mathis had five. Haley Brock and Morgan Ashtari each had three.
